The Behavioral Health Clinician II role involves providing direct client care, conducting diagnostic evaluations, and developing treatment plans in collaboration with clients and their families. This position also includes the potential for supervising unlicensed staff and students, contributing to a multidisciplinary team focused on improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. /Psy.D, LCSW, LPC or LMFT degree
  • Licensed in the State of Connecticut
  • Minimum of two years of experience with outpatients, including experience with children and/or adults
  • Theoretical orientation consistent with brief, problem-focused therapy
  • Reliable access to transportation for outside agency consults, meetings, and home visits
  • Bilingual fluency in a language spoken by the patient population (e.g., English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete initial behavioral health evaluations and provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy with children and/or adults in an outpatient clinic.
  • Run at least five (5) therapy groups each week.
  • Practice as part of an interdisciplinary team, accepting referrals from primary care providers and identifying patients in need of behavioral health services.
  • Consult with providers regarding treatment plans and patient progress.
  • Share in the Behavioral Health On-Call for after-hours coverage and daily clinic call.
  • Coordinate with psychiatric consultants for diagnostic needs and refer for medication management as necessary.
  • Attend clinical team meetings and component meetings as assigned.
  • Clinically supervise unlicensed Behavioral Health staff as assigned.
  • Meet productivity standards focused on quality clinical care during performance appraisals.
  • Encourage clients to express their feelings and develop insight into their lives and relationships.
  • Perform crisis interventions and assess for immediate safety concerns.
  • Guide clients in developing skills for dealing with identified goals.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical knowledge and standards.
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness and modify approaches as needed.
  • Discuss post-therapy plans with clients and support family members in understanding their loved ones' needs.
  • Gather information about community mental health resources.
