About The Position
The Learning Experience – Sterling is seeking an energetic and dependable School Age Teacher to support our after-school program and summer camp. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with school-aged children and creating a fun, structured environment that balances learning and recreation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience working with school-age children preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Reliable and able to work consistent afternoon hours during the school year
- Available for full-time schedule during summer camp
- Must meet Virginia childcare licensing and background requirements
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage school-age children in a safe and structured setting
- Plan and lead activities including homework support, games, STEM projects, and creative play
- Support children’s social development, teamwork, and independence
- Maintain a positive and organized classroom environment
- Communicate with families regarding daily activities and behavior
- Assist with transitions between school, activities, and pick-up times
- Follow all Virginia childcare licensing and safety requirements
