About The Position

Purpose of Position- Promotes the health and welfare of participants. Engages in skilled interaction with participants who require therapeutic supports, thus enabling them to access and utilize their community. Administers medication, provides g-tube feeding, and emergency support. Acts in accordance with SAS mission and guidelines, participants’ Therapeutic Plans, and Childcare Licensure. Serves as point of contact for parents and providers as needed during After School Program, Summer Camp and School Closure Day hours. Monitors and reports on data to ensure compliance with all applicable regulating agencies.  Maintains professional relationships.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of community and school age resources.
  • Skilled in working with people with developmental disabilities in a community.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in skilled interaction with people who require therapeutic supports.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with individuals at all professional levels.
  • Effective, creative negotiator and problem solver including crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks and goals for self and others.
  • Ability to work effectively with various technology including word processing software, internet-based databases, assistive technology, etc.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to meet Imagine! driving requirements.
  • This position requires regular use of a personal mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability and willingness to successfully complete required training curriculum.  This includes developing an understanding of School Age Services structure, services, philosophy, as well as community resources.
  • Minimum of 6 months’ experience as Imagine! SAS Counselor.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to drive a van.
  • Schedule is Monday through Friday; hours are based on the services provided and may include mornings and evenings.
  • Ability to push wheelchairs and to lift and transfer participants as related to toileting and restroom assistance, and other health and activity related needs.
  • Bending, kneeling, and stooping.
  • Effective with shifting roles, responsibilities, and expectations in a changing environment.
  • Willingness and ability to respond to emergency situations as they arise.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of college preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes the health, safety, and welfare of the participants aged 7-21+.
  • Acts in accordance with SAS policies, mission, and the Individual Plans, Childcare License, and regulations.
  • Monitors and reports on data to ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines and regulations, including Imagine! Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains respectful and professional relationships with participants, guardians and family members, and all Imagine! staff.
  • Implements Individual Treatment/Behavior Plans developed by Behavior Therapists and/or BCBAs as needed.
