About The Position

The School Age Program Counselor facilitates both active and passive programming for children in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade in a safe, secure, and fun environment.

Requirements

Minimum 1-2 years work-related experience preferred
CPR/First Aid certification preferred (training/certification will be provided as needed)
Solid understanding of Jewish customs or traditions or the willingness to learn
Proven ability to use good judgement in all situations
Requires ability to effectively communicate JCC mission to staff, members. vendors and volunteers
Requires high-level skills in customer service/member care
Embrace and model the JCC Internal Service Standards of Respect, Gratitude, Communication, The Golden Rule, and Ownership/Accountability
Exemplifies personal qualities of integrity, credibility and unwavering commitment to the JCC’s mission

Responsibilities

Maintain an orderly and safe environment at all times; specifically, this means: 1. Never leave the children unattended 2. Always escort the children to/from the various programming areas
Be fully engaged with the children at all times; be real in your enthusiasm
Help plan and fully implement lesson plans and activities
Lead by example in treating others with respect
Work effectively and professionally with co-workers
Effectively communicate with parents as they drop off/pick up children; greet them when they arrive, acknowledge when they leave
Verify that all children (irrespective of age) are signed in/out of program
Bring all concerns or problems (from parents, members and/or staff) to the attention of the Director
Keep the room neat and tidy after various activities have occurred and at the end of the day (and direct the children to assist)
Other Duties as assigned
