About The Position

As a Paraprofessional at Legacy Traditional Schools, you will have the opportunity to change lives through education by supporting teachers and working closely with students. Your role will involve reinforcing learning, assisting in the development of special strategies for individual students, supervising students during various activities, and creating a safe and engaging classroom environment. You will also support teachers in evaluating student performance and help guide students towards achieving their educational goals.

Requirements

• Holding a high school diploma or GED.
• Completed Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Current IVP level one fingerprint clearance card.
• Passing a criminal history background check.

Responsibilities

• Work with students to reinforce learning, understanding and skills related to the material and curriculum shared by the teacher.
• Assist teachers in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities.
• Support the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, lunch periods and field trips.
• Serve as the chief source of information and help to substitute teachers.
• Create a classroom and safe environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students and allows them to perform at their very best.
• Support teachers as they guide our students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth that is needed for primary school success.
• Explore individual needs and give side-by-side support to discover how each student best learns and recommend personalized solutions to the teachers for each students' learning style and abilities.
• Understand our proven curriculum as you support the implementation of our philosophy of education and guide the learning process and students toward the achievement of the curriculum goals using a variety of best practices and teaching strategies.
• Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior, good character and social skills in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives.
