A Scheduling Coordinator ensures the efficient information management of the Special Procedures Dept. on a daily basis; is responsible for all clerical functions including scheduling, posting of patient charges and coordination of communication with accuracy and timeliness.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate/GED
  • Vocational or Technical education, preferred
  • 1+ year of secretary or clerical experience
  • No certifications required
  • No travel required

Responsibilities

  • The OR Scheduler is responsible for the coordination of scheduling of all procedures in the Operating Room using an electronic scheduling program.
  • Obtains required patient information with 100% accuracy from patient, physician, and/or physician staff, at time of scheduling appointment.
  • Maintains current knowledge of scheduling changes to include changes in provider hours of operation, exam preps, contraindications, etc.
  • Completes check in process.
  • Advises manager of any potential problems or delays in scheduling.
  • Reschedules patients as necessary.
  • Demonstrates Customer Service principles and behaviors appropriately.
  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
  • Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.
