The Scheduling Coordinator at Regions Hospital plays a vital role in providing exceptional customer service to patients and visitors in the Digestive Care Center. This full-time position involves managing appointment scheduling for gastroenterology patients, facilitating communication among staff, patients, and care providers, and maintaining accurate patient records. The coordinator ensures efficient scheduling of endoscopic procedures and clinic appointments, while also serving as a resource for medical staff regarding hospital protocols.

  • Perform clerical/receptionist appointment scheduling for all gastroenterology patients.
  • Facilitate communication between staff, patients, families, and care providers, as well as between the unit and other hospital departments.
  • Prepare and maintain patient records, performing data entry into the computerized patient information system.
  • Serve as a resource to medical staff regarding hospital protocols.
  • Consistently and accurately schedule endoscopic procedure and ambulatory clinic appointments for the Digestive Care Center.
  • Refer requests for orders to the nurse through the use of messaging in Epic.
  • Assemble patient admission and discharge paperwork.
  • Send patient documents to Health Information Management after discharge.
  • Consistently and accurately enter patient information into Epic.
  • Minimum 1 year previous clerical and/or customer service experience.
  • Scheduling experience.
  • Degree in health care field
  • Previous experience in Ambulatory care setting and using Epic.
