About The Position

At Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute, our renowned cardiologists, heart and vascular surgeons, and cardiovascular professionals work together to provide award-winning care in 40 specialties, using the latest in diagnostic imaging and treatment options. Our multidisciplinary team includes more than 70 physicians in 24 locations across Central Florida, spanning Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Highlands and Okeechobee counties. As a part of Orlando Health, the Heart and Vascular Institute includes a network of community and specialty hospitals with more than 4,000 providers. The scheduling coordinator is responsible for clinical registration, scheduling and coordinating cardiology appointments in the office including but not limited to office visits, support care visits and diagnostic imaging.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED required.
• One (1) year of customer service based experience to include retail, hospitality or other related fields required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently and accurately schedule/coordinate cardiology appointments in the office including but not limited to office visits, support care visits and diagnostic imaging.
• Efficiently and accurately gathers and inputs patient/guarantor demographic and financial information.
• Maintains basic understanding of the medical needs during the screening process for scheduling an appointment.
• Provide accurate information of department/procedure specific scheduling criteria to expedite patient preparation, arrival location and time.
• Be proactive with all customers by actively listening, showing a caring attitude, and offering alternatives when necessary.
• Efficiently and accurately registers patient.
• Understand the importance Orlando Health places on providing exemplary customer service under the Orlando Health Way.
• Communicate regularly with providers, nurses, patients, and all other departments.
• Consistently and constantly reviewing the schedule daily and communicates all changes to providers, staff, and other departments.
• Consistently meets departmental goals for productivity, quality and customer service standards set by Orlando Health.
• Responsible for entry of office patient charges as assigned.
• Participates in department and/or corporate process improvement activities serving as a resource on patient flow.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
• Completes work orders and communicates with engineering regarding problems with the area.
• Assists in care and maintenance of department supplies, equipment.
• Ensures that all faxes are sent to the appropriate department and personnel.
• Maintains department records and files as required.
• Completes all mandatory education.
• Attends in-services/meetings as required.
• Performs other duties assigned as they relate to the quality of patient care and unit maintenance.
