The Scheduler is responsible to coordinate and schedule patient testing and procedures, including interacting with physician offices, other health care providers and staff in departments that provide services to ensure patients are scheduled as soon as possible. This role will enter patient data into the computer system and complete general office work for the department as needed. May serve as receptionist for patients. The role also involves preparing, posting, and distributing daily schedules, reviewing and updating schedules, communicating changes, maintaining and securing replacement staff, reporting issues to leadership, reviewing and correcting weekly attendance sheets for payroll, approving/disapproving PTO and vacation requests, tracking attendance actions, maintaining agency information, verifying patient information, communicating special requests, verifying patient details with Registration/Admitting, ensuring correct orders and clinical history, providing patient instructions, answering questions, maintaining patient records and surgical logbook, compiling census statistics, and obtaining necessary insurance pre-authorization and pre-certifications. It also includes prior authorization and registration functions, and ensuring accurate patient identification.
