About The Position

The Scheduler Sr-Periop Core is responsible for leading the Perioperative Services Surgery Scheduler team on a day to day basis and ensuring that all duties are performed in a productive and high quality manner. Coordinates team coverage to ensure all the Operating Room (OR) sites are appropriately and adequately covered. Coordinates scheduling for all the ORs on a global level to ensure that cases are matched to the correct resources and the most appropriate OR site. Assists supervisor and director to ensure that ORs are utilized as evenly as possible across all the hospitals. Monitors job performance and assists supervisor in the preparation of annual job performance evaluations for the scheduling team. Attends monthly surgery coordinator meetings. Assists in the preparation of monthly utilization reports for ORs. Works with clinical schedulers to produce global schedule of surgeons' holidays. Participates in ad hoc committees as directed. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of scheduling experience in a medical setting required.
  • Experience with medical terminology and ICD 9/10 codes required.
  • Knowledge of Loma Linda Operating Room procedures/protocols.
  • Able to keyboard 40 wpm.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position.
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
  • Previous OR scheduling experience preferred.
