About The Position

The Scheduler/Secretary will be responsible for performing scheduling functions in a streamlined environment, which is fully computerized. This position requires the application of special instructions and procedural information to identify the type of procedure requested and correctly schedule rooms and equipment. The Scheduler/Secretary will enter various data into the computer system, verify the accuracy of data input, correct errors, and print reports as necessary. In the Radiology Women's Imaging department, the Scheduler/Secretary will be responsible for duties listed in Radiology Section B if applicable and will also perform the following for all Breast MRI at all NSH locations, all Breast MR Biopsies at Atlanta and Forsyth, and all procedures in the Breast Care Center. This includes monitoring the patient schedule throughout the day for biopsy, MR Breast, and other specified procedures being scheduled at several locations. The role also involves obtaining all required documents, orders, and images as soon as possible for radiologist preview of cases and/or comparison of previous cases. The Scheduler/Secretary will work collaboratively with the referring physician's office to obtain all documentation and arrange courier services as needed. Additionally, they will assure that radiologists preview cases in a timely manner and convey results to the appropriate modality and clerical area for accurate order entry. The position also requires maintaining a 30-day hold for procedures, pathology results, and upcoming surgical cases.

Requirements

  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • One year previous medical-related clerical or related experience or an associate's degree.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Typing requirements vary by department; see requisition for requirements.
  • Fundamental knowledge and skill in the utilization of computer applications.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint varies by department; see requisition for requirements.
  • CPR certification may be required by department; see requisition for requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years previous experience in admissions or a scheduling environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in computerized input of data.
