This requires the application of special instructions and procedural information to identify the type of procedure requested and correctly schedule rooms and equipment. Responsibilities include entering various data into computer systems, verifying the accuracy of data input, correcting errors, and printing reports as necessary. As the initial patient contact, the role involves initiating patient records and accounts, preparing patients for imaging procedures, and greeting patients and families in a welcoming manner. The position also includes compiling patient records, pre-registering patients, interviewing, verifying, and performing accurate data entry of patient demographics, insurance coding, and medical information to ensure the integrity of records and minimize claims denials. Additional responsibilities include educating patients on Medicare Secondary Payer guidelines, accepting upfront payments, preparing for patient Radiology procedures, escorting patients to testing areas, managing outside film check-ins, ordering and stocking supplies, maintaining competency in information systems, handling complaints, faxing Radiology reports, coordinating same-day add-ons, and assisting clinical staff with safe patient handling.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduling functions in a computerized environment.

  • Accept upfront payments and provide patient receipts.
  • Prepare for patient Radiology procedures and verify documentation.
  • Escort patients to testing areas and monitor wait times.
  • Manage outside film check-ins and prepare for transport.
  • Order and stock supplies and maintain inventory levels.
  • Maintain competency in multiple information systems programs.
  • Handle complaints and service recovery professionally.
  • Fax Radiology reports to physicians as needed.
  • Coordinate same-day add-ons and initiate pre-certification.
  • Review and forward patient information for medical records.
  • Assist clinical staff with safe patient handling.
  • Perform Clinical Decision Support processes as assigned.

Requirements

  • One (1) year previous medical related clerical or related experience or an associate's degree.
