Job Description: Scheduler Analyst Purpose: Under general supervision, this position performs and manages tasks to assist engineering or management on project or workforce planning and scheduling. Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Coordinates and schedules field construction and maintenance projects. Coordinates and reviews construction- or engineering-related contracts and contract documents. Measures work performances against engineering work standards to develop, maintain, and improve City of Austin design and construction standards. Tracks status of projects, and reports to management. Plans projects by determining crew size and composition, work hour requirements, and equipment requirements. Prepares work order schedules, control records, and post schedules. Communicates project and/or program information to internal and external customers. Ensures compliance with City and other regulatory agency requirements and policies. Meets with project managers, engineers, and contractors to discuss designs. Skill in scheduling workforce. Notes to Candidate: Position Overview: Austin Water is seeking a Scheduler Analyst for the Pipeline Engineering & Operations Support Division. This position will perform a combination of office and field tasks and will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including coordinating and communicating design, construction, operations and maintenance activities for Austin Water’s water distribution and wastewater collections systems. The successful candidate will help evaluate some of Austin Water’s most challenging issues associated with a fast-growing city.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus 3 years of experience in coordination and scheduling of utility infrastructure projects.
Education may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.
Knowledge of construction projects common to utilities.
Knowledge of workforce requirements and work output for field construction crews.
Knowledge of equipment and construction techniques common to utility construction practices.
Skill in reviewing and summarizing project status reports.
Skill in maintaining records of project phase.
Skill in scheduling workforce.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a lead capacity, including strong organizational skills, scheduling of work assignments, providing training and guidance to others, and coordinating efforts of multi-discipline project teams
Knowledge of and experience performing operations and maintenance duties on Austin Water’s distribution system, including possession of a Class C Distribution License (or higher) and extensive use of AW’s IPS database
Effective written and verbal communication skills with project engineers, COA inspectors, contractors, and O&M staff
Experience in field construction of water distribution system facilities, including interpretation of construction drawings and contract documents
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
General knowledge of and interest in helping to create and improve Austin Water’s design, construction, and product standards that relate to all AW infrastructure installed and maintained in COA right-of-way
Ability to travel to more than one work location and ability to work outside of normal business hours when necessary
