About The Position

This position implements scheduling policies and directives according to District, federal or state guidelines and regulations. It involves managing competing priorities in a timely and efficient manner, organizing, and performing complex technical data management duties in the information database. The role is important as an advocate and champion of the student-centric scheduling process across the entire Dallas College. Dallas College, established in 1965 and formerly known as Dallas County Community College District, has served over three million students. It comprises seven campuses in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, making it one of the largest community college systems in Texas. Requirements

  • Demonstrates understanding of class scheduling guidelines, state reporting requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including conveying complex ideas effectively.
  • Exhibits strong time management, organizational, data management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of analyzing scheduling data accurately and leveraging technology for complex problem-solving.
  • Works independently or collaboratively, prepares and presents reports proficiently, pays attention to detail, and establishes effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated success working with diverse communities.
  • Associate degree or three (3) years of experience.
  • Official transcripts required.
  • Demonstrated application of data management and literacy skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in physical space utilization, faculty teaching portfolios, physical and/or digital learning materials processes, and the application of compliance and accreditation guidelines in higher education.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prefer one (1) or more years demonstrated use in PowerBI dashboard, Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Power Automate, Power Apps, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), SharePoint.
  • Prefer one (1) or more years of experience in Colleague, Workday, or Ad Astra, or a scheduling software.

Responsibilities

  • Works with school leadership directly on course building, classroom assignments, faculty assignments and other schedule related activities during peak times.
  • Supports student-centric scheduling processes and independently identifies, investigates, and resolves issues escalating issues which have greater implications.
  • Routinely draws upon historic context to independently make strategic decisions, including identifying stakeholders and conducting fact finding prior to escalation to leadership.
  • Understands the scheduling forecasts and usage trends and implements efficient methodologies.
  • Contributes to the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal quality controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, and compliant with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Identifies relevant metrics and makes recommendations on process improvement.
  • Contributes to the development processes to evaluate course needs based on student academic plans and identify gaps in course offerings in the schedule; evaluate available time/space for optimizing course offerings.
  • Prepares reports and presentations on program achievements, challenges, and plans for stakeholders, including senior leadership and external partners.
  • Provides clear communication supported by relevant data on scheduling practices and policies to stakeholders across the College.
  • Navigates changing deadlines and identifies key dependencies.
  • Establishes strategic goals and develop implementation plans to achieve goals.
  • Actively participates in professional development opportunities in alignment with business needs and strategic goals.
  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
