About The Position

Purpose of Job: Provide a wide variety of sleep diagnostic techniques and procedures that are used for the evaluation of sleep disorder status. All Sleep Laboratory Technologists at Sparrow Clinton Hospital will reflect an ability to care for the full scope of ages served by the department. This scope includes pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric care.

Requirements

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist or Registered Polysomnographer.
  • Completes Sleep credentialing process within 1 year of job.
  • 2-3 years clinical Polysomnography experience or equivalent.
  • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in his/her assigned service area as related to the principle duties and responsibilities of the position. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Sleep Diagnostic procedure on pediatric patients, adults and geriatric patients for evaluation of a variety of sleep disorders. Instruct patients, operate equipment, obtain data, analyze data, and prepare appropriate data for physician interpretation.
  • Assist in the training and development and marketing of new programs and procedures. Prepare written procedures and project proposals.
  • Oversee the day-to-day technical function of the Sleep laboratory. Confer with physicians and other sleep technicians regarding lab related issues.
  • Assess equipment needs and prepares equipment for the Sleep laboratory. Responsible for equipment maintenance, stocking supplies, and maintenance of a neat/professional work site.
  • Maintains knowledge of current diagnostic techniques and professional field.
  • Assumes general responsibility for positive client relations and other efforts to meet community needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security procedures and protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures.
  • Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information.
  • Maintains and protects patients rights under the HIPAA Privacy Standards.
  • Performs additional job related duties as requested.
