The Scanning Operator position within the Bureau of Vital Statistics at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene involves managing and improving records and information management processes.   • Identify areas for improvement in Records and Information Management processes.
  • Coordinate and prepare document imaging events, including scanning and organizing records.
  • Maintain quality controls for electronic and paper-based information management.
  • Provide guidance and assistance related to Records Management projects and operations.
  • Develop routine production reports for scanning and production activities.
  • Process records and information, including sorting, coding, and filing data.
  • Coordinate workflow processes and ensure document scanning standards are followed.
  • Manage the retrieval and processing of sealed documents from vaults as needed.
  • Access and manage security paper for certificate printing, ensuring compliance with protocols.
  • Test IT system fixes and report outcomes to IT and leadership.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, including one year in an administrative capacity or supervising staff.
  • An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, including one year of administrative supervisory experience.
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, including one year of administrative supervisory experience.
