About The Position

Thurston County Public Works is recruiting for a Scalehouse Operator t o join our dynamic, energetic, and innovative Solid Waste team. The successful candidate will assist customers and collect fees at Thurston County Solid Waste facilities located in Lacey, Rainier and Rochester. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following: Measures loads of refuse for cubic yardage to determine cost; determines categories for loads. Collects fees explaining the rate structure, issues receipts. Answers phone calls from public for information on dumping. Logs daily and weekly receipt sheet; deposits cash receipts daily. Performs custodial maintenance of facilities daily.

Requirements

One year work experience requiring public contact and cashiering duties.
High School Diploma or GED.
Current Washington State Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

Cash handling experience.
Work experience using personal computers and computer software.
Experience working as a scale operator.
Experience working at a solid waste landfill, transfer station, or drop-box facility.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with diverse audiences using tact, patience, and courtesy.
Demonstrated proficiency in keyboarding and ten-key data entry.
