About The Position

SCALE OPERATOR JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY: To properly operate equipment from a safety, quality and efficient perspective, while maintaining the cleanliness of all equipment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Adheres to safety, food safety, quality and legal compliance. Perform all work in accordance with environmental, health and safety standards, rules, regulations and practices of the facility. Must be able to pass training/certifications as required for qualification. Verify proper weight of finished boxed product according to box product weight specifications. Monitor quality of finished product in a case. Observe and analyze equipment performance and report any problems to the supervisor. Keep area clean and clear of safety hazards. Document completed work as required by the supervisor. Compliance with all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.
  • Ability to use effective problem solving skills.
  • Ability to use mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in accordance with production paperwork.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Read box weight scale, adjust packet count and weight of box to specification.
  • Visually monitor quality of finished product in a case.
  • Ability to visually differentiate items of color, up close and in the distance.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.
  • Stand/walk 6 or more hours per day.
  • Constantly bend forward 28 inches to conveyor belt for product inspection.
  • Constantly twist/turn and reach from waist to shoulder height to inspect product and operate machine.
  • Constantly grip/grasp and use eye/hand coordination to inspect pouches.
  • Constantly handle/finger boxes to close box flaps.
  • Constantly talk/hear.
  • Constantly lift up to 50 lbs from waist to shoulder height.
  • Frequently squat to obtain pallets and boxes.
  • Frequently lift and carry empty boxes weighing less than 5 lbs 20 feet.
  • Occasionally use eye/hand/foot coordination and fine motor tasks.
  • Occasionally taste/smell.
  • Occasionally lift 51-100 lbs from waist to shoulder height.
  • Occasionally carry full boxes of product weighing up to 50 lbs 30 feet.
  • Push pallets requiring up to 30 lbs of force within work area.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
