About The Position

This position is responsible for managing bird welfare and comfort in the Loafing Shed to reduce/eliminate bird’s dead-on-arrival (DOA’s) through constant monitoring from arrival at the facility through load out.

Ability to work and operate equipment safely and effectively
Must adhere to Animal Welfare Standards and practices
Ability to use time wisely while working independently
Excellent observation skills and attention to detail
Willingness to function as part of a team and work toward team goals
Willingness to work overtime and be called into work for emergency situations as required
Basic maintenance skills required
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
3 months cumulative work history
Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 90 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.

Nice To Haves

Training and/or experience in Animal Science and/or Live Animal management
operator experience preferred

Responsibilities

Give/Receive pass-down from alternate shift Loafing Shed/Scale House Associate
Receive and weigh all incoming poultry trucks; inclusive of unloaded weight; Computerized weighing system for LH. Identify organic bird trailers with signage.
Audit and ensure safety protocols are in place and being followed with intercom system
Monitor poultry from arrival through load out – notifying control room when end of lot trailer is going for processing
Animal Welfare Audits of two times per hour. Perform other various audits of birds and conditions
Maintain and communicate all departmental records and documentation as required
Arrange trailers in order based on daily observations
Maintain and set scale
Perform housekeeping duties, minor repairs and snow removal in and around Scale House and Loafing Shed
Provide back-up for opposing shifts as needed
Other duties as assigned
