About The Position

The Scale House Operator is responsible for weighing truck loads using specialized software, generating customer tickets, performing clerical office duties, and maintaining a clean and organized plant office environment. This position works under general supervision, following established procedures and referring complex questions to the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Six months to one year of relevant office support experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with general office practices, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Proficient computer operation for data entry and report generation.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Experience using standard office equipment (adding machine, computer, copier, etc.).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with minimal errors.

Responsibilities

  • Operate plant or remote scale systems to weigh outgoing truck loads and enter order data into the computer, issuing accurate tickets for customers.
  • Verify essential details including customer, hauling company, driver, project location, and product purchased.
  • Communicate with customers, loader operators, superintendents, and other plant staff to ensure precise ticketing and quality service.
  • Collect funds for COD orders, prepare weekly cash reports, and submit receipts to the Billing Specialist at Legler.
  • Generate regular reports and provide ticket information as needed for invoicing purposes.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and greet visitors and customers courteously, ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Take detailed messages and redirect callers as appropriate.
  • Code and process accounts payable invoices, forwarding coded documents to the Legler office for payment.
  • Maintain and generate accurate monthly reports; submit wage personnel payroll hours weekly.
  • Accurately record and report MSHA quarterly reports, accident reports, and injury reports.
  • Organize and file plant paperwork and reports.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and straightening the plant office, including the scale operator area, customer entry, employee break area, and restrooms.
  • Complete other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain dependable and reliable attendance.
