About The Position

The Scale Attendant serves as the central coordination point for truck shipments during non‑office hours, ensuring accurate documentation, safe site access, and smooth communication between logistics, operations, and customers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year or less of related experience
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and database data entry
  • Experience handling shipping documentation or bills of lading
  • Familiarity with two‑way radio systems and office equipment
  • Strong organizational, listening, and multitasking skills
  • Dependable, punctual, adaptable, and calm under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Process bills of lading and accurately weigh inbound and outbound trucks
  • Dispatch and route trucks efficiently to minimize delays and demurrage
  • Coordinate after‑hours orders with sales, customers, labs, and trucking companies
  • Serve as the primary contact for radio communications, gate intercom, and incoming calls
  • Verify trailer cleanliness and ensure drivers and visitors complete required safety training
  • Maintain accurate logs for trucks, keys, product movement, and returns
  • Prepare shipping documentation, export papers, and safety data as required
  • Monitor plant activity via cameras and respond to emergencies or weather events as needed
