About The Position

We seek a dedicated individual who will work in the scale house as a Scale Attendant at a busy Thermomechanical Treatment Facility:

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent coupled with one to three years of experience with administrative, clerical, and accounting activities.
  • Candidate must be highly organized, along with having knowledge of basic principles of bookkeeping and records management.
  • Must possess skills in working within deadlines to complete projects or assignments, along with operating a computer utilizing a variety of business software.
  • Ability to multi-task and focus on day-to-day details.
  • Skills in Microsoft programs, specifically Excel are necessary
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
  • Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
  • Consistently work in various weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Monitor inbound/outbound truck activity.
  • Acquire and monitor accurate truck weights.
  • Communicate with various departments any scale operational issues.
  • Keep accurate records of all tickets, manifests, and supplies.
  • Reconcile transportation and disposal invoices for various Covanta facilities.
  • Handle special projects assigned by supervisor and any other related duties.
  • Ensuring that incoming loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material.
  • Enter truck information into computer systems.
  • Weigh trucks in and out.
  • Ensuring that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Providing general upkeep of the Scale House.
  • Approaching all encounters with employees, customers, and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Balance the daily receipts to ensure accurate record keeping and appropriate billing.
  • Answer the telephone and provide information to the public regarding hours of operation, acceptable types of waste, location and directions to the transfer station and prices associated with disposal.
  • Ability to perform basic math to measure volumes and quote/calculate pricing for the customer.
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention.
