About The Position

The Scaffold Supervisor position, located in Charlotte, SC, is with Sunbelt Rentals, the fastest-growing rental business in North America. This role assists the E&D Construction Manager in managing all aspects of the E&D department, including scheduling, employee development, and recruiting. The supervisor will safely and effectively direct up to three Foreman 2, who each oversee their crews, in the erection and dismantling of various types of scaffolding without direct and continuous supervision from the E&D Construction Manager. The Scaffold Supervisor also acts as the competent person on site as required by OSHA and Sunbelt's Competent Person Procedures, and is typically not required to work with tools. A key aspect of the role is to mentor and coach E&D Foremen and E&D Lead Carpenters to support their professional development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Combined experience as Scaffold E&D Carpenter, Scaffold E&D Lead Carpenter, Scaffold E&D Foreman 1 and Scaffold E&D Foreman 2 for a minimum of 7 years or approved equivalent experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work comfortably and safely at considerable heights
  • Knowledge of the OSHA rules and regulations regarding scaffolding
  • Knowledge and understanding of the various types of scaffolding material being used so that the intended loads of the scaffolding are not exceeded
  • General knowledge of the different types and sizes of the scaffolding materials being used

Responsibilities

  • Assist the E&D Construction Manager in managing all aspects of the E&D department including but not limited to scheduling, employee development and recruiting
  • Safely and effectively supervise and direct up to (3) Foreman 2, who each oversee their crews, to erect and dismantle various types of scaffolding without the direct and continuous supervision of the E&D Construction Manager
  • Act as the competent person on site as required by OSHA and as per the guidelines outlined in the Sunbelt Competent Person Procedures
  • Mentor and coach the E&D Foremen and E&D Lead Carpenters to aid in their development to move up
  • Design for various types of scaffolds and order materials as required to maintain work flow
