The General Clerk II at SAFB PO Work Services Corporation is responsible for a variety of functions related to the Mail Center Service Contract. This role includes the assignment of mailboxes, distribution of mail and packages, sorting mail, and ensuring the security of all mail. The clerk will perform all necessary steps to assign, activate, and deactivate P.O. boxes for postal patrons, ensuring compliance with operational and safety procedures. The position requires maintaining a clean and safe work area while providing professional and friendly customer service to assist customers with mail-related inquiries. The clerk will also conduct monthly inspections of all assigned receptacles to ensure compliance with postal service standards and assist in other areas as directed by the supervisor. In addition to these responsibilities, the General Clerk II will record accountable mail on receipts before delivery, maintain postal records, and prepare necessary forms and reports. The role demands active listening and service orientation, as well as ethical practice and teamwork. The clerk will be exposed to various working conditions, including outdoor weather and moving mechanical parts, and will need to handle physical demands such as lifting and standing for extended periods. This position is full-time, requiring 20-40 hours of work per week, with no travel expected.
