About The Position

INTECON is looking for a highly skilled SBIRS Systems Engineer / Subject Matter Expert to provide technical expertise for the Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS) and associated Mission Delta 4 systems. This position supports planning, development, testing, and sustainment of SBIRS capabilities while serving as a trusted advisor to Space Force leadership. The SBIRS SME ensures system readiness and influences modernization efforts critical to national missile warning and space superiority missions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience across SBIRS enterprise (ground, mission, hardware, software).
  • 3+ years of systems engineering experience with DoD/USSF weapon systems.
  • Familiarity with SBIRS testing and operational acceptance processes.
  • Knowledge of DoD and USSF operations, procurement, and sustainment policies.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Systems Management, or related field.
  • Prior SBIRS operational or engineering program office experience.
  • Advanced certification in Systems Engineering (INCOSE CSEP, DoD DAWIA).

Responsibilities

  • Provide systems engineering and technical expertise for SBIRS satellites, command and control systems, relay stations, and user interfaces.
  • Support planning, development, integration, and sustainment of SBIRS enterprise components.
  • Coordinate with Mission Delta 4 and external stakeholders (SpOC, SSC, STARCOM, USSPACECOM, STRATCOM, MDA) on system performance and modernization.
  • Assist with trial-period and operational acceptance testing for SBIRS weapon systems.
  • Provide technical guidance, assess risks, and recommend process or schedule adjustments.
  • Develop technical policies and documentation in alignment with DoD and USSF guidelines.
  • Support multi-agency and multi-disciplinary engineering efforts to address mission-critical issues.
  • Contribute to infrastructure readiness assessments and modernization planning.
