About The Position

Basic Function: To support the operations of the School Based Health Center Program.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant training strongly preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products- Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Verbal and written communication skills, office applications preferred
  • Demonstrate proper judgment and decision-making skills when necessary
  • Comply with the organizations code of conduct, safety rules and adheres to all company policies
  • Carry out job responsibilities in an ethical, effective and professional manner
  • Must be willing and demonstrate the ability to cooperate, work, and communicate with coworkers and supervisors
  • Must demonstrate computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite and electronic medical record system
  • Must be keenly aware of the importance of confidentiality in all aspects of the position

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of all aspects of the SBHC Program.
  • Manage recall lists for needed dental appointments and schedule when due
  • Manage parental consent forms for services and send requests for updated documents when needed
  • Schedule follow up appointments including treatment, 6-month rechecks, and sealants as requested by the dental hygienist.
  • Send letters to parents regarding future appointments and seek updated consents when due
  • Communicate with school personnel to schedule meetings as needed
  • Track monthly and annual enrollment in the SBHC programs
  • Assist with completion of NYS Department of Health quarterly reporting
  • Prepare monthly Quality Management Committee reports
  • Prepare monthly reports for staff completion such as Well Child Checks
  • Answer incoming phone calls, transfer patients calls where needed and schedule appointments as appropriate
  • Represent the SBHC program at school open houses and other outreach events.
  • Assist with and promote all processes associated with the Coleman initiative
  • Promote Patient Centered Medical Home initiatives
  • Assist SBHC staff with all other tasks as assigned
  • Travel/provide coverage at various SBHCs as needed
