About The Position

Responsible for the ongoing management and oversight of a portfolio of Small Business Default Solutions (SBDS) criticized and classified relationships. Supports the asset management team by performing detailed financial analysis, underwriting, and credit actions that align with Truist’s risk appetite, policy framework, and strategic goals. Partners with Asset Managers, Relationship Managers, and Credit Officers to deliver sound portfolio management, credit quality, and efficient resolution strategies. will be onsite at any of the posted locations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent education and related training.
  • Five to ten years of experience in commercial or small business banking, credit analysis, or special assets.
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit, workout, and risk rating frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform financial and collateral analysis, interpret borrower performance, and draft sound credit recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and bank credit systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in criticized/classified or workout portfolio management, SBA lending, or small business recovery.
  • Familiarity with Truist credit systems (e.g., nCino, Credit Lens, PAMS, AFS).
  • Graduate-level coursework or certification in banking, finance, or risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively across credit, legal, and recovery teams to drive results.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a highly complex and high-exposure portfolio of SBDS relationships, applying advanced credit judgment and strategic oversight to manage elevated risk, drive portfolio-level decisioning, and address structurally complex, distressed, or sensitive credits requiring significant coordination and expertise.
  • Prepare and review credit packages, modifications, renewals and extensions. Ensure all recommendations are complete, well-supported, and consistent with Truist credit policy and regulatory guidance.
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and projections to assess repayment capacity, global cash flow, and collateral adequacy. Identify risk trends and recommend appropriate risk rating adjustments.
  • Partner with Asset Managers and Team Leaders to formulate action plans for criticized and classified assets. Contribute to decision-making on loan workouts, deferments, and restructures that align with recovery and loss mitigation goals.
  • Ensure all credit actions, loan files, and system data are complete, accurate, and compliant with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and SBA SOPs where applicable.
  • Work closely with SBDS Asset Managers, and Servicing teams to support timely resolution strategies, maintain credit file integrity, and prepare materials for Credit Review, Audit, or Regulatory examinations.
  • Maintain accurate records of portfolio activity, exposure, and trends; assist in preparation of management reporting, stress testing, and forecasting for the SBDS portfolio.
  • Participate in communications with borrowers and guarantors to clarify financial information, explain loan terms, and facilitate documentation requests when appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline credit review, data accuracy, and portfolio monitoring processes within SBDS to improve workflow efficiency and data quality.

  • Keep abreast of changing Bank policy and procedures, as well as business and economic developments which impact the loan portfolio and banking in general.
