This role focuses on business development activities, including prospecting, client acquisition, external networking, and uncovering sales opportunities across lending, deposit, and treasury management services. The SBA BDO will be the main point of contact for on-going servicing support and account maintenance as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in SBA and/or commercial banking business development
  • Proven ability to build relationships and generate new business
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and networking skills
  • Proficient knowledge of SBA Program Requirements and loan structuring
  • Working knowledge of commercial credit, deposits, and treasury solutions
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems

Responsibilities

  • Proactively source and develop new SBA 7a loans in the Bank’s Northern California footprint and elsewhere in California with SBA Executive approval.
  • Collect complete application from the prospective client, determine SBA eligibility, structure loan, prescreen credit and identify all available collateral.
  • SBA 7a loans are intended for sale and should be structured to maximize premium to the extent possible
  • Develop new commercial relationships within Fremont Bank footprint.
  • Consistently meet or exceed commercial lending and depository growth goals
  • Identify client needs and provide consultative financial solutions across a wide range of bank products, including Wealth Management, Residential, and Treasury Management
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers to transition new clients into long-term managed relationships
  • Represent Fremont Bank at community and industry events to develop brand presence and lead opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records of pipeline activity using CRM tools; coordinate closely with internal partners to ensure smooth client experience
  • Act as an ambassador for Fremont Bank’s values and service model in the marketplace
  • Make recommendations to the appropriate lending authority based on client needs and credit analysis
  • Negotiate loan terms and conditions to structure mutually beneficial agreements
  • Attend commercial lending department sales meetings and contribute to team initiatives
  • Assist clients with banking transactions by coordinating with relevant internal departments
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery
