Growing together The Small Business Director of Sales and Acct Management for UnitedHealthcare (UHC) is responsible for supervising the Sales and Account Management staff who are tasked with customer retention, building and closing their new business pipeline in the assigned markets within the 2-50 employee range. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Hybrid in Minnesota preferred. Requirements

  • Sales Insurance License Maintained by Law
  • 5+ years in healthcare sales or account management
  • 5+ years of experience working with brokers/consultants
  • 5+ years proficiency in Microsoft Suite including word, PowerPoint, excel
  • Willing or ability to travel as needed up to 20%25
  • Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • 5+ years of experience meeting sales goals
  • Solid working knowledge of business planning and financial/underwriting acumen

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor client assignments as well as train sales and account management staff, new hires and ongoing
  • Set team strategy to achieve and surpass goals, and consistently develop and manage staff
  • Develop and execute business plans to drive growth and distribution strategies
  • Effectively forecast and present results to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with local markets to drive strategy and growth within your markets
  • Navigate our internal sales tools leading to successful pipeline management
  • Collaborate with other small business leaders to improve upon sales strategies and processes
  • Build and maintain key client and producer relationships
  • Develop and maintain key internal relationships
  • Present a positive image of UnitedHealthcare to the marketplace
  • Detailed understanding of all UnitedHealth Care products, services and solutions across all health plan sites
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise/ancillary product lines
  • Ability to identify and communicate the need for improvements in UnitedHealth Care products and services
  • Understands and can communicate goals, operating principles, strategies and competitive position of UnitedHealth Care
  • In-depth healthcare knowledge, understands important trends and nuances of their market
  • Demonstrates knowledge of competitor's strengths, weaknesses and strategies
  • Understands financing methodologies and strategies (fully insured, ASO)
  • Thorough knowledge of UnitedHealth Care underwriting principles and practices
  • Can explain and justify a renewal rate to customers
  • Ability to successfully implement client accounts
  • Consistently models a customer-focused approach
  • Effectively manages difficult service situations to a positive result
  • Ability to deal with and meet externally with sophisticated customers and brokers/consultants
  • Anticipates problems and develops contingency plans
  • Ability to customize existing marketing tools to meet the individual needs of a client
