Set up and operate machine tools such as vacuum box or friction saw to form and/or cut metallic and nonmetallic work pieces to blueprint tolerance. Who are we? Vertical high speed friction saw. Lay out of parts by scribing net lines and cutting within .100 of lines. Order blueprints and fixtures to determine net areas of parts. Grind and deburr all parts so they can be handled safely at next operation. Change broken blades as needed. Maintain clean and organized work area per 6s check list. Vacuum Forming – sets up and operates vacuum press to form sheet metal into structural shapes. Loads and unloads parts and dies into vacuum press. Starts and stops chart recorder that records time and temperature. Obtains quality buyoff on parts and chart record. Checks own work and takes first part to quality inspection. Able to adjust process for additional parts to keep within control limits for SPC as needed. Collects SPC data according to the control plan attached to the work order. Cross trained in Blast dept. Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to operate a forklift.
Ability to use measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, protractor, tape measure, height gage, and scales.
Prior operation of machinery helpful.
Read and understand internal procedures and policies.
Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions.
Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
Basic Computer Skills - able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance.
High School Diploma; up to 3 years related experience in job function and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience
Math Skills – decimals, percentages, fractions.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and Mylar’s.
