About The Position

The Saw Operator is responsible for operating horizontal and vertical precision cutting equipment to produce aerospace-grade materials to exact thickness and dimensional requirements. This role ensures all products meet aerospace quality standards and customer specifications prior to release to downstream operations. The position supports safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing processes within a high-performance aerospace production environment.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of prior experience in band saws, industrial metal cutting or metalwork.
  • Exposure to close tolerance work, typically within a few thousandths of an inch.
  • Use of calipers and micrometers.
  • Acceptable vision test results (as applicable).
  • Must have English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills sufficient to read, write, understand, and communicate the company's operating procedures and policies

Responsibilities

  • Operate horizontal and vertical sawing equipment to cut materials to specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Cut material within designated tolerance ranges as defined by engineering drawings and work instructions (e.g., ±0.005” thickness and ±0.010” end-of-part when specified).
  • Interpret work orders, engineering drawings, and technical documentation to ensure accurate production.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to verify compliance with aerospace specifications.
  • Ensure product finish, dimensional accuracy, and overall quality meet company and customer standards.
  • Perform operator-level preventive maintenance
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure work area organization in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklift).
  • Troubleshoot dimensional discrepancies, scrap, and quality concerns in collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing leadership.
  • Support cross-training initiatives and demonstrate flexibility to work in multiple production cells as assigned.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety policies, aerospace regulatory requirements, and environmental health and safety (EHS) standards.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents to supervision or EHS personnel.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support business objectives.
