About The Position

Weyerhaeuser Idabel Lumber has an opening for an experienced Saw Filer with a clear commitment to safety, strong leadership values and outstanding core values. This position works with our saw filing team performing saw filing activities for our state-of the-art lumber manufacturing facility in Idabel, OK. The successful candidate must have expertise in safely filing and maintaining band saws and circle saws; machine alignment; maintaining saw filing equipment; and preventive maintenance procedures, including the ability to inspect equipment for signs of wear/damage and recognize unsafe conditions.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
A minimum of 3 years' saw filing experience in a sawmill environment.
Experience in safe work practices related to saw filing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Applicants must be qualified in fitting round and band saws.
Experience with filing shop equipment calibration and maintenance.
Candidate must have working knowledge of hard tipped welding (alloy) and carbide plus stellite tipping.
Have experience in tensioning and leveling round saws / band saws.
Basic understanding of planned / preventive maintenance process.
Understand internal quality control and machine alignment procedures.
Have strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to effectively team with others while implementing process changes in a rapid-pace work environment.
Consistently demonstrate a strong commitment to safety values.
Produce quality work product and capacity to adapt to and learn new technology.
Basic computer skills.
Personal tools will be the responsibility of the successful candidate.
This position is designated by Weyerhaeuser as safety-sensitive. As a result, you will be subject to pre-employment testing for cannabis and its metabolites. A positive test result for marijuana (including THC) may disqualify you from employment, even if you hold a valid Oklahoma medical marijuana license.

Responsibilities

Participate in safety meetings and activities as determined by team and mill norms and standards.
Benching and fitting bandsaws.
Sharpening, tipping and benching round saws.
Honing and maintaining knives.
Pour babbit, maintenance of guides and maintaining guide plane.
Complete PMs for sawmill and sawshop machinery as required.
Participate in reliability task teams or activities as required.
Help coach apprentices/operators to learn sawfiling trade and help with PMs.
