We're looking for candidates who can bring exceptional engineering skills and strong experience in aerospace programs to the team. Position Responsibilities: The Systems Engineer (SEIT/SWIL) will serve as the primary internal owner of Airbus U.S.'s satellite digital twin, supporting software-, subsystem-, and system-level verification and validation. The engineer will operate, maintain, and enhance the digital twin environment and coordinate with the subcontractor for updates, fixes, and capability improvements. They will also develop TCL-based tests to exercise and validate system behaviors within existing SWIL workflows. This role ensures the digital twin is effectively integrated into SWIL test activities and that simulation results remain aligned with system performance and verification needs. The engineer will execute moderate to complex assignments with increasing autonomy under the Systems Engineering Manager and senior technical leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 1 year with a Master's degree.
  • Experience supporting modeling, simulation, or software-intensive aerospace systems across design, integration, verification, or test phases.
  • Experience developing automated test scripts for verification or simulation-based workflows.
  • Experience operating or maintaining complex toolchains or simulation environments developed by external partners or subcontractors.
  • Experience supporting software-, subsystem-, or system-level verification and validation activities.
  • Ability to operate, debug, and enhance simulation workflows and system-behavior models.
  • Familiarity with SWIL concepts, simulation-driven testing, or software-in-the-loop verification.
  • Strong analytical skills, including evaluating simulation results and diagnosing model/test discrepancies.
  • Proficiency with systems engineering processes such as requirements decomposition, verification planning, and traceability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and subcontractor developers.
  • Ability to handle moderate to complex technical assignments with increasing autonomy.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to take ownership of a technical product or workflow.
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Master's in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas.
  • Experience developing automated test scripts in TCL or similar scripting languages used for command-and-control or simulation-driven testing.
  • Experience working with digital twins, system behavior models, or modeling and simulation (M&S) tools in an aerospace or software-intensive environment.
  • Experience with modeling or simulation development in C++, MATLAB, or Simulink, particularly for representing system behavior or validating algorithmic logic.
  • Experience integrating simulation outputs into verification workflows or using simulation to support system-level analysis.
  • Experience evaluating or improving simulation fidelity, performance, or behavioral accuracy.
  • Experience conducting software-in-the-loop (SWIL) test sessions or simulation-based validation activities.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills applicable to simulated environments, including root-cause analysis across software and model interfaces.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively across engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with increasing autonomy in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Strong initiative and consistent record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Ability to take technical ownership of a tool or workflow and guide its evolution.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with subcontractor development teams and internal engineering groups.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and readiness to take on increasing levels of responsibility as program needs evolve.
  • Active DoD security clearance at Secret or above highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and enhance the satellite digital twin environment.
  • Coordinate with the subcontractor for bug fixes, updates, performance improvements, and capability enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain TCL-based tests that exercise and validate system behaviors using the SWIL digital twin.
  • Ensure simulation results accurately reflect expected system behavior and verification objectives.
  • Analyze digital twin outputs and support troubleshooting of discrepancies between simulated and observed system performance.
  • Document digital twin workflows, interfaces, and internal usage guidance for engineering teams.
  • Support software-, subsystem-, and system-level verification and validation activities.
  • Develop verification plans, test procedures, and test approaches that incorporate simulation-based methods.
  • Execute SWIL test sessions leveraging the digital twin and contribute to validation readiness activities.
  • Perform data analysis, identify anomalies, and support root-cause investigations.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning and coordination across engineering disciplines to ensure simulation and test alignment.
