About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification preferred.
• Current Heartsaver Certification.
• Minimum of one year previous phlebotomy experience required.
• Successful completion of EKG program or equivalent experience desirable.
• Typing proficiency and knowledge of medical terminology desirable.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with common medical billing procedures.
• Excellent customer service orientation skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples using appropriate phlebotomy technique.
• Schedule glucose tolerance tests and coordinate testing including collection of fasting glucose, administration of glucola, and completion of timed venipunctures.
• Perform glucose testing on-site using a glucometer.
• Prepare specimens for testing, including centrifugation and freezing serum.
• Answer all incoming phone calls and use proper telephone etiquette.
• Maintain adequate supplies on-site in the satellite location.
• Verify report completeness of all testing requested from the satellite location.
• Sort and mail reports.
• Register patients into the hospital information system or collect patient information for retrospective registration.
• Perform EKG on-site as scheduled.
• Maintain a patient log of all tests ordered.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, professional manner.
• Collect throat cultures.
