About The Position

The Satellite Kitchen Assistant at Harford Technical High School is responsible for overseeing the Food and Nutrition Services operation at the assigned school. This role acts as a liaison between the school principal and the Food and Nutrition Services Manager, ensuring the proper handling of food and equipment, compliance with health department standards, and maintaining positive relationships with students and staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Satisfactory completion of training required for kitchen assistant position.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Meets the health department's personal hygiene standards.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
• Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, including the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Valid driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Receive and handle incoming food and equipment, checking quality, quantity, temperatures, and condition.
• Inform the manager of the progress, problems, or needs of the satellite kitchen.
• Place selected food orders and inform the manager of food and supply needs.
• Assist in training and directing other Food and Nutrition Services workers at the satellite kitchen.
• Maintain point-of-sale computer accountability.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation and Food and Nutrition Services procedures as instructed by the manager.
• Complete and maintain daily and annual inventories on food, equipment, hardware, paper, and cleaning supplies.
• Assist in planning and participate in meal promotions.
• Ensure food quality, portion control, and menus comply with Food and Nutrition Services standards.
• Responsible for daily participation reports, cash reconciliation, and deposits.
• Attend training classes and workshops as required.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
