The SATCOM Technician is responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of satellite communication (SATCOM) systems at our teleport facility. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to support both day-to-day operations and emergency situations. The SATCOM Technician collaborates with NOC Technicians, Engineering team, vendors, and cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability and operational excellence. This position includes mentoring responsibilities and contributes to the continuous improvement of operational procedures.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot RF, baseband, and SATCOM systems and equipment.
  • Ensure uninterrupted satellite signal transmission and reception.
  • Resolve issues involving satellite modems, up/down converters, and IP-based transport systems.
  • Provide escalation support for complex or unresolved SATCOM issues.
  • Collaborate with Tier I technicians and engineering team for efficient resolution of recurring or critical issues.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of configurations, incidents, and resolutions.
  • Prepare maintenance logs, technical reports, and SOPs.
  • Ensure documentation complies with internal standards and audit requirements.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians on troubleshooting techniques and SOPs.
  • Develop training content and lead sessions to strengthen team capabilities.
  • Conduct routine audits and quality checks on SATCOM infrastructure.
  • Assist engineering in planning and executing scheduled upgrades and maintenance windows.
  • Participate in the development and review of SOPs and maintenance checklists.
  • Provide on-call support as part of a rotating schedule.
  • Respond to critical outages, performing rapid fault isolation and system recovery.
  • Provide clear, professional updates during incident resolution.
  • Contribute to internal reviews and improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • 3-5 years of working experience in satellite communications, RF, or IT network support.
  • Strong working knowledge of RF systems, satellite modems, IP networking, and system integration.
  • Understanding of Linux and Windows-based systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and time management skills.
  • Experience using test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators and power meters.
  • Hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and SNMP-based monitoring tools.
  • Experience with teleport or broadcast operations.
