About The Position

DataPath, Inc. is a global leader in remote satellite-based communications solutions that solve our customers’ toughest communications challenges in urgent time frames and under extreme conditions. We specialize in enabling complex communication networks that are critical to the operations of the Department of Defense, Civilian Government, and Commercial markets. Currently, we are seeking a Satellite Communications Technician - OR. This position supports the U.S. Army Project Manager Tactical Network (PM TN) Global Field Service Representative (FSR) Support Services program. The program provides FSR support of communications for the Government primarily for operability and sustainment of the Tactical and Strategic antenna system such as the Deployable Ku Earth Terminal (DKET), Mobile DKET, Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR)/Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) Access Point (SNAP), United States Marine Corps (USMC) Support Wide Area Network (SWAN) and Commercialization efforts, Micro Very Small Aperture Terminal (mVSAT), VSAT, Inflatable Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Terminal (ISA) CJNCC NETOPS Multinational Information Sharing (MNIS) Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System (CENTRIXS), Coalition Partner Network-X (CPN-X); and Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF)-OIR AO-wide Network, but are not limited to only these terminals and support. The Satellite Communications Technician performs a wide range of activities associated with the day-to-day support for the operation and maintenance of a teleport site.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship
  • US DOD Secret Clearance
  • A valid current US Passport
  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering. In lieu of BS degree, an Associate’s degree and seven (7) years of related specialized experience. In lieu of any degree, Eleven (11) years of related specialized experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in communications software, hardware, or networks.
  • Required specific experience includes protocol analysis, knowledge of OSI protocol (TCP/IP, X.25.X 400, and X.500).
  • Must possess experience with ATM, frame, relay h bridges, routers, gateways, FDDI, and UNIX operating systems.
  • Must possess knowledge of strategic SATCOM terminals: C, Ku, X, and Ka bands.
  • Must possess knowledge of test equipment of their operation.
  • Must possess knowledge of UHF systems.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Novell Engineer (CNE) or Enterprise Certified Netware Engineer (ECNE) experience is desired, as well as, supervising the operation and maintenance of communication network systems, mainframe, mini or client/server based.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate must be prepared to live and work in Germany.
  • Candidate is required to obtain a work permit and perform job duties, for the duration of the contract, under German Ordinary Resident (OR) status.
  • Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week.
  • Provide communication and non-communications functions in support of DoD Gateway Systems, earth terminals, and associated shelters.
  • Support operation, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, monitoring, reporting, and operational and preventive maintenance.
  • Provide services including real time transmission systems configuration control, circuit restoration, circuit activation, circuit deactivation, quality control and performance standards, status reporting, master station log, and other actions required by policies, responsibilities, and operational procedures.
  • Abide by all corporate, Government, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Apply performance standards and quality control standards as directed by the Standard Operating Procedures of the company and the Government.
  • Participate in daily and weekly team meetings, as required.
