GDIT has an exciting opportunity for a SATCOM Systems Specialist to support U.S. Army Europe in Be'er Sheva, Israel. The SATCOM Systems Specialist will work as a team to provide 24/7/365 Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of satellite communications networks as well as configuring routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN terrestrial systems and circuits. Primary duties are to serve as the SATCOM Help Desk representative, communications Node Site Coordinator (NSC), and network support duties to include router/switch configurations, cable installation and management, and COMSEC keying and management. Primary systems supported include the US Army MET-T and SNAP terminals as well as the Transportable Radar Communications Complex (TRCC) system. The location is in an unaccompanied remote austere location with possible exposure to hazardous conditions. Experience working in downrange military environments required. You will play a crucial role in mission command support. As a SATCOM Systems Specialist, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of U.S. Army Europe and AFRICOM. You will play a crucial role in mission command support. Manage the SATCOM Help Desk to receive and coordinate remediation of trouble calls from lower and higher echelons. Monitor satellite communications and report issues and/or outages in accordance with local procedures. Install, configure, operate, and maintain SATCOM earth terminals and supporting RF equipment. Conduct detailed site surveys evaluating terrain, RF propagation, environmental constraints, and infrastructure requirements. Apply advanced RF engineering principles to optimize satellite links, mitigate interference, and ensure reliable connectivity. Install, configure, and maintain switches and routers and network fiber/copper cabling to maintain satellite communications and local LAN environment. Key, rekey cryptographic devices such as the KG-175D/G. Coordinate ASI's and Preventive Maintenance of satellite terminal supporting equipment, such as shelters, power generators, and Environmental Control Units (ECU) with other vendors as required. Create and maintain SATCOM architecture and infrastructure diagrams and communication plans. Troubleshoot SATCOM hardware and software issues in real time operational environments. Evaluate new SATCOM technologies and capabilities to enhance mission effectiveness. Develop and maintain technical documentation, configuration records, and deployment reports. Coordinate with program managers, engineering teams, and military stakeholders to ensure successful field operations. Provide guidance to junior technicians and may serve as a task or team functional lead. (Not a people manager)
