Preferred locations: Plano, TX · Detroit/Farmington Hills, MI · Nashville, TN · New York City, NY · New Orleans, LA: Ashburn, VA Overview: The strategic role of a Senior SAP S/4HANA Project Systems Solution Architect is critical to the success of modern, project-centric enterprises. This is not merely a technical configuration role; it is a leadership position responsible for architecting the digital backbone of the organization's core value-delivery process—the project. The individual orchestrates the complex convergence of logistics, finance, and advanced manufacturing capabilities within a single, integrated SAP S/4HANA solution. Their mandate is to translate high-level business strategy into a robust, scalable, and efficient enterprise system, ensuring that the company's most complex undertakings are managed with precision, visibility, and profitability. This architect will serve as the design authority for the entire project lifecycle, from initial customer inquiry and complex product configuration through to final delivery and financial settlement, thereby directly enabling the company's competitive advantage in the market.

Requirements

  • A candidate for this role is required to have strong experience, knowledge, and demonstrable skills in program, project, and project portfolio management business processes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and key results and outcomes (KROs) utilized across and within program and project-centric businesses. These processes include the following: Program and project management leading processes and practices per the Project Management Institute (PMI) Systems engineering leading practices and processes per the “International Council for Systems Engineering” (INCOSE) Understanding of the “Advanced Product Quality Planning” (APQP) methodology currently utilized by the automotive and industrial equipment industries Experience and knowledge in applying engineering, manufacturing, and service management practices and processes in the context of programs and project portfolios Experience and knowledge in government agencies' funds planning and management
  • A candidate must be able to demonstrate their knowledge and experience with one or more of the following industries: Aerospace and Defense Automotive New Model Development and Market Launch Energy – Upstream Exploration and Development Real Estate Development and Home Building Industrial Equipment – Make to Order (MTO) / Engineer to Order (ETO) Public Sector – New Program Development, Planning, and Management
  • Candidate requires at least ten years of experience, knowledge, and skills in one or more of the following SAP S/4 HANA ERP and other integrating applications: Logistical Process Orchestration (PS-LOG) Project Structuring Scheduling and Capacity Management Materials Management Integration Sales and Production Integration Financial Control and Performance Management (PS-FIN) Cost and Revenue Planning Budget Management Period-End Closing Project Billing Architecting Solutions with PMMO Core PMMO Concepts Pegging and Distribution Legacy GPD Knowledge Variant Configuration (VC) in Engineer-to-Order (ETO) Scenarios VC-PS Integration Configurable Networks Advanced Variant Configuration Enterprise Integration Architecture and External Systems Integration with External Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) Systems (Planview, Microsoft Planner, SAP ePPM, Primavera, etc.) Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Integration (Deltek Cobra, Primavera Parade, etc.)
  • 10-15 years of hands-on SAP implementation experience, with a primary focus on the Project System (PS) module.8 At least 5-10 years of this experience must be in a dedicated Solution Architect or Enterprise Architect role.
  • S/4HANA Implementations: Demonstrable experience having led the end-to-end solution design for a minimum of two full-lifecycle SAP S/4HANA implementations within a project-driven manufacturing or ETO environment.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or Business, is required.
  • Must be ITAR-compliant and able to provide proof of citizenship.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future sponsorship.
  • Applicants must reside in the continental United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Current SAP S/4HANA certifications in appropriate areas (e.g., Project System, Logistics, Solution Architecture) are highly desirable and serve as a validation of expertise.
