About The Position

At BigBear.AI we are looking for a detail-oriented database expert with a passion for performance, security, and innovation. We’re looking for an experienced SAP HANA Database Administrator to join our team and take ownership of mission-critical systems that power enterprise operations. In this role, you’ll ensure our SAP HANA environments are optimized, secure, and scalable supporting everything from day-to-day operations to long-term strategic growth. The role requires an Active TS/SCI w/ Poly clearance.

Requirements

Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph – Required for this role.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience as a DBA, with a focus on SAP HANA.
Strong knowledge of SAP HANA architecture, installation, and configuration.
Experience with performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery.
Proficiency with SAP HANA tools (e.g., SAP HANA Studio, Cockpit).
Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager and monitoring tools.
Understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
Proficient in SQL and scripting languages like Python or Shell.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A collaborative spirit with the ability to work independently when needed.
Sharp attention to detail and a proactive approach to system optimization and issue resolution.

Nice To Haves

Experience with SAP HANA Cloud or hybrid environments is a plus.
SAP Certified Technology Associate SAP HANA (preferred).
Knowledge of Linux/Windows server administration.
Familiarity with BI, data warehousing, and integration concepts.
Experience with other databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) is a bonus.

Responsibilities

Administer, monitor, and optimize SAP HANA database instances for peak performance and availability.
Manage backups, restores, and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues proactively.
Monitor system health and implement alerts to prevent disruptions.
Analyze queries, execution plans, and system resources to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
Implement strategies like partitioning and compression to enhance performance.
Plan, test, and deploy SAP HANA updates, patches, and upgrades.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime during maintenance.
Enforce database security policies, including access control and encryption.
Ensure compliance with internal standards and industry regulations.
Audit access logs and investigate anomalies.
Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Support the design and implementation of disaster recovery strategies.
Automate routine tasks using Python, Shell, or SQL scripting.
Develop monitoring tools to improve operational efficiency.
Forecast future growth and ensure infrastructure scalability.
Monitor and optimize storage usage.
