Caterpillar IT-Corporate Services Division (Finance IT) has an opening for a SAP Finance General Ledger (GL) Senior functional consultant at the USA, Peoria/AD or Dallas facility to support implementation projects for SAP/ERP Finance Deployments. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, functional leads, and technical teams to ensure efficient financial close, accurate reporting, and compliance with financial regulations. What You Will Do: Lead the configuration and implementation of SAP General Ledger (GL) processes in SAP S/4HANA, ensuring alignment with business requirements and project objectives. Design and configure key GL components, including chart of accounts, ledger structures, document splitting, and financial period closing processes. Support the integration of GL with other financial components such as Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Accounting (FI-AA), and Controlling (CO). Conduct requirement gathering workshops, process mapping, and gap analysis to identify and address business needs. Develop functional specifications for custom reports or system enhancements related to GL processes. Assist in data migration activities, including the migration of opening balances and historical transactions. Troubleshoot and resolve functional issues related to GL during development, testing, and post-go-live support. Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system testing, and business sign-off activities to ensure successful implementation. Ensure compliance with corporate financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements. Provide leadership and guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless end-to-end process integration and alignment. What You Have: Technical Skills- Strong expertise in SAP GL processes, including chart of accounts, ledger structures, document splitting, and financial period closing. Experience in SAP Implementation projects with Finance focus In-depth knowledge of integration points between GL and other SAP modules such as AP, AR, FI-AA, and CO. Knowledge of other Finance systems like GLS, BMS, Globals etc and integration knowledge of these systems with SAP systems. Experience in preparing functional specifications for custom developments and enhancements. Proficiency in SAP tools and technologies Leadership and Management Skills- Proven ability to lead and manage teams, ensuring successful project delivery. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex functional issues. Experience in process mapping, gap analysis, and designing solutions to meet business requirements. Communication and Collaboration Skills- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams. Strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and ensure seamless process integration. Top Candidates Will Also Have: Any Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or Information Technology or Related field. 8 + Years of relevant working experience in SAP Finance with focus on GL processes SAP certifications in Finance or related areas is a plus Overall Experience of 10+ Years in IT Additional Info: The ideal location for this role is East Peoria-IL, Irving-TX This position may require 10% travel.
