About The Position

The Sanitation Worker role at Safeway's Clackamas, Oregon bread production facility is essential for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety within the plant. This position involves working as part of a team to ensure that all sanitation processes are performed effectively, contributing to the production of high-quality bread products for customers across Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in warehouse, fulfillment, or manufacturing environments.
  • Sanitation experience preferred.
  • 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, twisting, and turning frequently.
  • Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a union environment.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, including nights, weekends, or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Work around large processing equipment using chemicals for sanitation.
  • Disassemble, wash, clean, and sanitize all production line equipment after production weeks or changeovers.
  • Clean walls, floors, fixtures, and drains using established procedures.
  • Wash all utensils used for processing and mixing products.
  • Follow sanitation procedures for proper chemical solutions and concentrations.
  • Check cleaning records for frequency, duration, temperature, concentration, and use of sanitizing products.
  • Coordinate cleaning with maintenance and production for timely production start-up.
  • Control insects and pests within the plant.
  • Clean eyewash stations and replenish solutions as needed.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in plant and office areas.
  • Follow all safety procedures and participate in safety training.
  • Monitor and correct violations of Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs).
  • Be trained and certified in Lock Out, Tag Out processes.
  • Support product safety, quality, and legality.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
