About The Position

A Day in the Life: As a Sanitation Worker, this role is tasked with maintaining a clean and safe facility environment through detailed cleaning procedures, equipment sanitization, and adherence to food safety standards. The work contributes to operational efficiency of the warehouse and production operations. Duties include cleaning break rooms, offices, restrooms, and production areas; removing refuse; sanitizing floors and machinery; and documenting cleaning tasks in alignment with company procedures. The role may involve disassembling and reassembling machine parts to ensure proper sanitation and assisting with pre-operational inspections to maintain food safety compliance. What You Bring to the Table Sanitation Expertise and Compliance Awareness · Experienced in cleaning facility areas and machinery, with knowledge of food safety sanitation practices · Adheres to structured cleaning routines and maintains proper documentation. Physical Capability and Coordination · Capable of lifting up to 100 pounds and performing frequent physical tasks such as walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, stretching, and climbing. · Demonstrates hand, eye, and foot coordination while using equipment and tools safely. Detail Orientation and Work Ethic · Approaches tasks with a sense of urgency and ensures consistent cleanliness. · Performs sanitation tasks thoroughly to contribute to a safe operating environment. Safety and Equipment Familiarity · Understands workplace safety procedures and may have familiarity with lock out/tag out (LOTO). · Operates sanitation equipment such as squeegees, bailers, sprayers, and foam systems effectively. Communication and Teamwork · Communicates clearly with team members and sanitation leadership, reports concerns promptly and contributes to a collaborative team environment. · Works independently and adapts based on coaching and feedback. What you will be doing As a Sanitation Worker, you will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, machinery, and production areas to meet FDA, USDA, and company standards. You’ll work closely with the production team to ensure a clean and safe environment that supports the production of high-quality products. The position will be based in Merced, CA,. The starting hourly rate is $21.00. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to follow safety rules, work procedures, and food safety standards
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, stretch, step, and climb frequently
• Ability to lift and move equipment/product weighing up to 70–100 pounds
• Coordination to use tools and equipment properly
• Basic math skills for cleaning documentation and measurement accuracy
• Ability to accept supervisory feedback and meet performance expectations
• Ability to function effectively as part of a team

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with equipment safety procedures including lock out/tag out
• Experience in food production or sanitation
• Ability to work efficiently without direct supervision
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to cleaning standards
• Prior experience in sanitation within a food production facility, preferably in pasta or salsa manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA, HACCP, and GMP standards.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate with Quality Assurance and Production teams effectively.
• Knowledge of proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
• Commitment to health, safety, and compliance in all sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, and GMP sanitation standards.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, production lines, and facility areas according to established schedules and protocols.
• Follow all sanitation procedures and use approved cleaning chemicals safely and effectively.
• Disassemble and reassemble production equipment for thorough cleaning.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are met and maintained.
• Maintain accurate logs and documentation of sanitation activities for audits and internal reviews.
• Assist in managing the inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management of restocking needs.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
• Participate in sanitation training programs to stay updated on best practices and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to protect employees and products.
