About The Position

The Sanitation Technician ensures the cleanliness and sanitation of production equipment and the facility to maintain food safety and regulatory compliance. This role involves handling sanitation chemicals and equipment, including foamers, steam hoses, COP tanks, and CIP systems. The technician is responsible for following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation protocols, and safety procedures to uphold a clean and compliant production environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety guidelines and sanitation protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow standardized procedures consistently.
  • Manual dexterity to operate sanitation tools and perform routine cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous sanitation experience in a food production environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize production equipment by following Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Perform Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) and Cleaning-Out-of-Place (COP) verifications, ensuring chemical concentrations, flow, time, and temperature meet food safety standards.
  • Use foaming equipment, scrubbers, and sanitation chemicals to clean facility equipment and production areas.
  • Verify equipment cleanliness after sanitation procedures to meet production and safety standards.
  • Follow the facility’s color-coding program to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Document sanitation procedures and production checks accurately for compliance and traceability.
  • Complete tasks from the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) within required timelines.
  • Conduct facility and equipment inspections to verify compliance with sanitation and food safety regulations.
  • Report food safety concerns or equipment-related issues to supervisors or managers immediately.
  • Adhere to GMPs, PPE requirements, and proper chemical handling protocols to ensure personal and workplace safety.
  • Operate and become certified in forklifts, pallet jacks, and walkie forklifts as needed for sanitation-related tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
