About The Position

The Sanitation Technician cleans and sanitizes food processing equipment or other related environmental surfaces in conformance to company standards and applicable health laws and has the ability to use all necessary sanitation equipment. The individual must perform the following duties. In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for: Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures. Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments. Must follow all Company Safety policies, as well as all GMP regulations and all lock-out/tag-out requirements according to OSHA requirements. As an employee at Europastry you must also be aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job. You must know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards. This position requires good working knowledge of the SQF code. All employees must comply with food safety and regulatory policies and must act to resolve food safety issues within the scope of their assigned work duties. Specifically, employees must: comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices and hygiene requirements; carry out their assigned food safety and regulatory responsibilities; follow appropriate food defense and site security procedures (and keep outside doors closed and locked); notify management about actual or potential food safety issues; maintain accurate and timely records as required according to their job duties; not use or ship on-hold materials, ingredients or products (unless QA instructs otherwise);

Requirements

  • Ability to use all necessary sanitation equipment.
  • Ability to use and control all sanitation equipment, such as the floor scrubber and power washers.
  • Qualified to enter confined spaces and the use of harnesses.
  • Good working knowledge of the SQF code.
  • Aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job.
  • Know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards.
  • Comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices and hygiene requirements.
  • Carry out their assigned food safety and regulatory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs equipment sanitation, adjust and remove conveyor belts, guards and covers during maintenance and sanitation operations.
  • Perform specialized sanitation interventions on deemed critical equipment.
  • Support production or sanitation when needed and requested by supervisor/manager.
  • Assembles and disengages equipment requiring cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Cleans mixers, proofers, elevators, ovens, conveyors, scales, dividers, or any other equipment according to job assignments.
  • Cleans and sanitizes Coating Room equipment, food contact belts, freezer and cooling spirals, and processing tanks.
  • Cleans out oil, machines, greases, equipment structures, conveyors, screens and filters.
  • Perform TPM defined tasks and complete documentation via CMMS (L41 and coating room divider, mixer, baggers and conveyor systems).
  • Must have the ability to use and control all sanitation equipment, such as the floor scrubber and power washers.
  • Be qualified to enter confined spaces and the use of harnesses.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement culture.
  • Attends company scheduled meetings when applicable (i.e., safety meetings, production meetings, sanitation meetings and maintenance meetings).
  • Informs the supervisor or manager of any problems or complications that may arise.
  • Assists with building and grounds maintenance as needed.
  • Performs all work in accordance to OHSA standards for general industry.
  • Upkeep of sanitation technician tools and inform QA or manage missing tooling.
  • Participates in sanitation practices trainings for equipment by internal means or OEM.
  • Participates in tasks, CMMS or SOPs for sanitation technician duties.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
