About The Position

The Sanitation Technician position is responsible for performing sanitation duties within the production and grounds of the facility. This position is to ensure a clean, safe work environment is available for food production. Responsible for the performance of all Department functions – Sanitation systems Cleaning chemical inventories Efficiencies Regulatory Compliance Food Safety Audits Reports Reports directly to the Sanitation Manager. Communicates with other departments such as Customer Service, Production, Quality, Maintenance, etc. The objective of the position is to perform sanitation duties within the production facilities. This includes, but is not limited to mopping, sweeping, sanitizing, dusting, etc. Responsible for cleaning equipment per standard operation procedures and master sanitation schedules. Responsible for cleaning grounds, which include all exterior location of the production facility such as parking lots, dock, truck pit, exterior drains, under silos, etc. Responsible for daily cleaning task set forth in master sanitation schedules such as trash, breakroom, bathrooms, etc. Responsible for ensuring paperwork required by sanitation schedules is properly documented. Responsible for oversight of cleaning supply inventories and storage. Reporting needed purchases of supplies to prevent shutdown delays or production delays to Customer Service. Communicates with production and maintenance on sanitation needs and scheduled shutdowns to ensure efficient operation of plant. Other Responsibilities - Include, but are not limited to the following: Perform minor maintenance needed in the plant and/or grounds of the facility. This could include painting, patching holes, minor repairs, etc. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) – GMP’s are to be followed while working. Remember, you are working in a food plant and food safety is a top concern for South Georgia Pecan Company Hairnets and beard coverings are to be worn at all times within the plant. Sanitize hands before returning to work from the bathroom, breaks, lunch, or before entering the plant from outside. No Eating or Drinking inside the plant, except in designated areas. No Dipping, Chewing Tobacco, Smoking, or Chewing Gum within the plant. No Jewelry within the plant. (Except for medical I.D. bracelets and smooth wedding bands without stones). No false fingernails or eyelashes. No fingernail polish or paint. No open-toed shoes. Rubber soles are preferred. Exercise good hygiene. If working in production areas, you must have a clean uniform. All contractors must wear company issued shirts or South Georgia Pecan smocks. No open sores on exposed skin in production areas. If sick, please notify management or supervisor and do not enter a production area. Ensure production equipment is operating properly, and no parts are missing. Ensure product tools are properly stored, cleaned and sanitized prior to and after each break, lunch, and shift. Ensure Good Housekeeping practices are applied. Food Safety and Quality - All employees are responsible for food safety and quality. Employees are responsible for reporting any food safety and quality problems to their supervisor, production manager and/or plant manager. Employees are responsible for supporting the SQF System. Personnel Safety – Safety of employees is a top priority for South Georgia Pecan and each employee needs to remember safety when preforming task of the Job.
