About The Position

As a Sanitation Technician, you will ensure the cleanliness, functionality, and operational readiness of all latrine and shower facilities on site. You will operate pump trucks to manage wastewater, replenish freshwater supplies, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure full compliance with sanitation, environmental, and safety standards. This role is essential to maintaining hygienic, reliable facilities for all personnel on site.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate pump trucks and sanitation equipment.
  • Prior experience in sanitation, waste management, environmental services, or related fields preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Wastewater Management
  • Operate pump trucks to empty latrine trailers (black water) and shower trailers (gray water) on a scheduled and as-needed basis.
  • Safely transfer wastewater to designated holding tanks for off-site removal.
  • Maintain accurate logs of all wastewater transfers, including volumes and disposal details, in accordance with environmental and site regulations.
  • Freshwater Service
  • Monitor and refill freshwater tanks for all sanitation units to ensure uninterrupted operation.
  • Inspect hoses, fittings, and freshwater connections for leaks or damage; repair or replace as needed.
  • Preventative Maintenance & Repairs
  • Conduct daily inspections of all sanitation units to identify issues such as leaks, odors, broken fixtures, or equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on pump trucks, pumps, valves, hoses, and fittings as part of a routine maintenance schedule.
  • Document all maintenance actions, repairs, and part replacements in the Preventative Maintenance Log.
  • Coordinate with the Site Operations Manager when major repairs or equipment replacements are required.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Follow environmental, safety, and sanitation regulations including EPA, OSHA, and site-specific guidelines.
  • Use appropriate PPE and maintain safe, clean work areas around all sanitation systems.
  • Immediately report any spills, leaks, contamination events, or safety hazards.
  • Maintain 100% functionality of all sanitation units daily.
  • Complete timely pumping, refilling, and servicing with zero downtime.
  • Accurately complete all daily service logs and preventative maintenance documentation.
  • Uphold professionalism, reliability, and company standards at all times.
