The position involves following an established schedule for the collection of trash, medical waste, and sharp containers, using various equipment to maintain cleanliness and safety in the hospital.

Requirements

  • 6 to 12 months Basic Housekeeping experience.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read English to understand equipment manuals.
  • Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 70 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds.

  • Collects and transports trash, needle boxes, and soiled items from assigned locations to compactor/sterilizer area.
  • Operates autoclave and helps monitor temperature by utilization of steam pack and vial system.
  • Maintains cleanliness of waste compactor room by cleaning walls, vents, ceiling and scrubbing floors.
  • Correctly handles infectious waste, linen and needle boxes according to departmental procedures.
  • Performs additional projects as assigned by manager or supervisor.
