About The Position
Priority Waste (www.prioritywaste.com), headquartered in Clinton Township, Michigan, provides waste hauling services. Our company has experienced rapid growth since its founding in 2018. This growth has allowed us to continually expand our workforce. The Company operates out of several facilities, including two transfer stations. Priority Waste maintains a diversified platform providing service to both municipal solid-waste, construction and demolition customers. Through our yellow fleet of residential, roll off, and front load trucks and containers, Priority Waste makes the customer experience our #1 priority. Job Purpose In your role as Trash Loader, you will be responsible for the loading of solid waste/recycling debris from residential customers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
- Must be able to sit, kneel, crouch, stoop, crawl, balance, hear, talk and smell
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
- May be required to work in emergency situations
- Must be able to work 6 am 5 pm
Responsibilities
- Picks up solid waste and places it in the back of a rear load garbage truck on specific routes, often done manually or by pushing the toter to the tipper
- Lifts and carries trash bags, bulk items, and containers to truck for disposal
- Climbs on and off the rear of truck to load refuse, waste, and carts
- Operates packing mechanism
- Assists driver to safely back up truck by assisting from the ground
- Cleans behind the compactor blade when directed with a shovel and hoe
- Sprays and cleans the hopper and truck at the end of each shift or as needed
- Reports any safety or customer service-related issues to driver and supervisor
- Assists other routes as needed to complete daily work
- Ensures that refuse at residences is picked up and transported properly
- Answers questions from residents and directs them to contact customer service for additional information
- Complies with ANSI and OSHA guidelines
- Performs a variety of manual duties in the clean-up of scattered refuse, cleans up area around accidental waste spills and ensures that customers containers are replaced properly
