About The Position

The Sanitation Safety Supervisor is responsible for maintaining compliance programs, files, and records in accordance with company and government regulations. This role may involve aiding in training authorized and affected safety classes, correcting working conditions using knowledge of chemicals and processes, and escorting employees of various agencies conducting safety, fire, and physical security audits of the facility. The supervisor will assess new developments in the health and safety field to benefit the Sanitation Department and promote participation in safety, health, and environmental programs. Responsibilities also include conducting chemical sampling and monitoring, inspecting operations for compliance, assisting in investigations of injury accidents and near misses, conducting spot checks on safety equipment, and writing reports to implement the safety program. The position requires a significant amount of walking and stair climbing, with varying noise and temperature levels depending on the area of the plant.

Requirements

  • CPR/First Aid Training.
  • OSHA Training Courses.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains Compliance Programs, files and records in accordance with company and government regulations.
  • Aids in training Authorized (qualified) and Affected Safety classes.
  • Corrects working conditions using knowledge of chemicals and processes.
  • Escorts employees of all agencies conducting safety, fire, and physical security audits of the facility.
  • Assesses new developments in the health and safety field to benefit the Sanitation Department.
  • Promotes and encourages participation in safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Conducts chemical sampling and other monitoring.
  • Inspects all operations being performed on a daily basis and storage of material for compliance with company standards.
  • Assists supervisors in conducting investigations on injury accidents and near miss incidents during corresponding shifts and reports findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Conducts spot checks on Supervisor PPE inspections, fire extinguishers, emergency eye wash and showers, emergency lights/exits, and inspects emergency equipment (Haz-mat) and chemical storage.
  • Writes reports implementing the safety program, trains employees, inspects the facility for adequate fire protection, and ensures that all equipment is in good working condition.
